Shawn Cotter
Shawn was born and raised in Huntington Beach and has lived here his entire life. Playing baseball was always his passion from the age of 7 and he is low reliving that passion through coaching his son’s baseball teams as well as being president of the local little league.
He attended the fire academy a few years after graduating high school and while testing for a career with the fire department he started working with his friend in the electrical field. After a few years the company made a change and promoted him to run the field operations.
The company was small at the time, run out of the owner’s house, but was growing rapidly. With this growth Shawn was promoted to Vice President of Operations. During this time the company expanded further, moved into a commercial building, grew to over 150 employees and started storing and delivering the material from a warehouse.
Chevo Penãloza
Chevo was born in Guerrero, Mexico and came to the United States at age 17, following some family members who had immigrated previously. He started working immediately in different factories in southern California.
At the age of 27 he began to work as an assistant electrician. He moved companies shortly after, which is where he met Shawn. As an assistant, he quickly gained interest in electrical work and wanted to grow with in the company. He was promoted to a Forman two years into his career there, which unveiled his expertise in the field, and eventually led to him managing the custom home division for the company.
After 20 years, Chevo decided to go out on his own and start his own company and attained his contractor’s license. He started on small projects and after six months reconnected with Shawn where they started and build SPEC Electric.
